Plantronics Calisto 210 USB Handset for Unified Communications Now Rated “Avaya Compliant"

Integration with Avaya one-X® Communicator 5.2 and Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager 5.2 allow the Plantronics Calisto 210 USB Handset to streamline Unified Communications deployments.

Santa Cruz, Calif. - March 11, 2010 - Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE: PLT) today announced that its Calisto® 210 USB Handset is compliant with Avaya one-X® Communicator 5.2 and Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager 5.2. By combining the strength of Plantronics’ audio devices with Avaya communication and user productivity software, the companies are delivering complete Unified Communications solutions that help companies improve business collaboration and reduce operating costs.

In December 2009, Plantronics and Avaya extended their long-standing business and technology relationship to focus on new Unified Communications and Contact Center solutions. At that time, Avaya named Plantronics as “preferred headset provider” for bringing clear audio, reliability and ease-of-use to enterprise business users. Plantronics’ portfolio of audio devices includes one of the only headsets and handsets that deliver plug-and-play connectivity and advanced call control for Avaya solutions such as Avaya one-X® Communicator and Avaya one-X® Agent.

The latest Plantronics audio device to receive Avaya compliance, the Plantronics Calisto 210 USB Handset helps businesses speed Unified Communications deployments by providing end users with a familiar device for PC-based voice conversations. The Calisto 210 features wideband audio and a noise-canceling microphone to optimize audio quality, and a convenient USB cable that enables immediate use with any computer running Avaya one-X Communicator 5.2 and Avaya Aura Communication Manager 5.2.

“Because our Unified Communications audio solutions are compliant with Avaya, businesses deploying UC have the confidence of plug-and-play compatibility and the benefit of great audio quality and advanced call control functionality,” said Elizabeth Bastiaanse Hamren, vice president of Product Marketing at Plantronics. “Plantronics and Avaya will continue to work closely together to deliver intuitive and seamless solutions that enable enterprises and contact centers to realize the true, real-time collaboration benefits of UC.”

Only Headset Manufacturer to Achieve Platinum DevConnect Status

Plantronics is a Platinum member of the Avaya DevConnect program, an initiative to develop, market and sell third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network. Plantronics is the only Platinum-level headset manufacturer in the Avaya DevConnect program.

As a Platinum member, Plantronics is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya-compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure - speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“Companies like Plantronics are expanding the Unified Communications choices available to Avaya customers,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, Developer Relations, Avaya. “They are able to use Unified Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available - getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line.”
