LifeSize® Changes the Game With Universal Video Collaboration

As a major LifeSize partner, we’re extremely excited to learn that LifeSize has added significant technology to their arsenal. Aiming to further expand LifeSize HD Video Conferencing in the UC world and simplify video communications, LifeSize has acquired a premier mobile visual communications provider, announced a new cloud-based HD video conferencing platform and released a new product optimized for cloud-based solutions.

From the Board Room to the PC, Tablet or Smartphone

Logitech, the parent company of LifeSize, acquired Mirial, a Milan-based leading provider of personal and mobile video conferencing solutions. Already a leader in conference room HD video communications, this move solidifies the increasing mobile video communications arena for LifeSize. From the official press release, "Mirial brings to LifeSize strong leadership in extending open, interoperable video collaboration solutions to anyone, anywhere on nearly any mobile device through Mirial’s standalone video software clients for the PC and Mac, client/server enterprise video software solutions, and service provider offerings. Mirial supports a broad range of iOS and Android devices including the iPhone 4, 3GS and iPad 2." Now, from the smart phone to the board room, LifeSize has every video conferencing solution covered.

Cloud-based Simplicity Meets Business-class Performance

Also announced was LifeSize’s new cloud-based platform, LifeSize Connections, a 9-way video/voice/data/text bridging software that delivers seamless, encrypted HD video calling across an enterprise – connecting LifeSize video conferencing systems in conference rooms to desktop users on PC’s or Mac computers, in high definition. LifeSize Connections is cost-effective and simple – seamless integration, auto-configuration of endpoints, click-to-call dialing, and cloud-based scalability that grows with an organization simply and easily helps reduce costs and IT support. From the press release, "Outstanding barriers to video adoption for many companies have been the high upfront cost of equipment and the lack of sufficient IT resources to manage complex deployments of traditional on-premises video infrastructure. Interoperability challenges also make it difficult for on-premises users to make calls with outside vendors, customers or colleagues. LifeSize Connections helps eliminate these challenges by combining turnkey deployment, flexible pay-as-you-go pricing models and the ability to collaborate with anyone with a computer and a webcam."

Accelerate Universal Video Collaboration for Telecommuters and Remote Offices

Finally, LifeSize has released the Passport Connect, an HD video conferencing system optimized for cloud-based platforms. The Passport Connect that has all the features from their original LifeSize Passport but also includes a Logitech HD camera and interoperability with leading cloud-based solutions, including LifeSize Connections and Microsoft OCS and Microsoft Lync. Additionally, there is a discount with a one-year subscription to LIfeSize Connections. From the press release, "Since we were acquired by Logitech in 2009, we have been actively collaborating on our shared vision of making HD video calling as ubiquitous as a phone call," said Craig Malloy, chief executive officer of LifeSize and Logitech senior vice president. "Working within Logitech on LifeSize Passport Connect is a natural extension of our strengths and accelerates universal video collaboration by continuing our track record of breaking the boundaries of quality, flexibility and total cost of ownership"
